Camlock Coupling - Overview
Camlock, or cam and groove fittings, are a quick connect system used to couple at least one hose to a pump or pipe, as well as to attach other camlock hoses together. Camlock couplings always require one male adapter and one female coupler. They are designed to be easy to use, with no need for thread sealants or tape to create a seal. Instead, cam lock seals are created by the rubber gasket. When closing the arms on the female coupling, the rubber gasket is compressed by the male adapter, which creates a pressurized connection. This action prevents leakage.

Types of Camlock Couplings
Type A Cam Adapter
The Type A coupling is a male adapter x female thread. The type A adapter threads onto male threaded fittings and components like Pipe Nipples, Hex Nipples, Bushing Reducers, Hose Barbs and KC Nipples. This camlock fitting type A is commonly used to connect hoses with male-threaded ends. It easily threads onto hoses with male threads and the NPT threads provide a secure and leak-free connection. Will connect with a Type B, Type C, Type D and Type DC.
Type B Cam Coupler
The Type B cam coupler is a female coupler x male thread. The type B coupler threads into female threaded fittings and components like merchant couplings, Pipe Unions, Bell Reducers, Pipe elbows and Pipe Tees. This Type B cam coupling is commonly used to connect hoses with female-threaded ends. It is also widely used to thread into ball valves and into pumps. The NPT threads provide a secure and leak-free connection. Will connect with a Type A, Type E, Type F and Type DP.

- Polypropylene and Nylon Camlocks can be used in the chemical industry, for transmitting liquid, and for irrigation in the agricultural industry.
- Brass Camlocks work very well for transmitting salty water. They are suitable for most environments except for acid and alkali.
- Aluminum Alloy Camlocks are great for use with fresh water or mixtures of oil and water.
